Marmit MH G68 vs G72...which figure is better?

Postby ebirahsmeg1 » Sun Oct 17, 2010 4:45 am

Hey guys:

I am thinking about picking up one of Marmit MH’s G68-72 figures, one of my top 5 favorite Godzilla suits of all time (the others being Mosu-Goji, Bio/Ghido-Goji, and Finoru-Goji . Also known as Soshingeki Goji and Hedo-Goji, I just love this suit, period. Very slender, yet imposing/threatening at the same time. Hell, even when it was falling apart on screen in GvsGigan, I still dig this suit.

Now, of course Bandai made a very nice figure of G68-72…in the damn 6 inch scale of course. :x So, I wanted to get a figure of this particular suit in the 8 inch scale…which is where Marmit’s Monster Heaven always comes in handy as they provide some great 8-10 inch scale figures of a lot of kaiju that Bandai either won’t touch (Manda, Varan, Kumonga, Ebirah), or are delegated solely to their 6 inch line (Titanosaurus, Showa MG, and virtually all of their memorial Box Godzilla figures are a few that come to come mind).

Marmit has made several G68-72 figures: Two “Giant/Megaton/whateverâ€

Thanks for the input everyone. Now, I have a similar question regarding another MH figure I want to get...the MH 73-75 Megaro-Goji figure.

I have noticed that 99.9% of the time this figure has popped up anywhere, it's in the dark green color...which is not bad and I don't dislike it at all. However, I was wondering if anyone (Legion, leunames, Bio-Goji, anyone?) owns two of the other alternative colors for it:

Black Glitter Version

Grey lucky bag exclusive
http://www.clubtokyo.org/listings/popVa ... entID=1648

Honestly, that Black Glitter version looks awesome  ...does anyone own it or have feedback on it? :?: The grey one I am not so sure about and have gone back and forth on it...one moment I think it looks very intriguing and cool, but at other times I think it doesn't hold well against the standard green or black glitter version.

Sorry for all the questions regarding these figures and their color variations. I recently found a Japanese contact in Tokyo who is kind of a figure/vinyl "Hunter" (that's how he described himself...very cool, yet eccentric dude :karate: :7sam: He's good at finding not just figures, but specific colors/variants), and he is the one who found the black Mosu-Goji figure for me a few weeks ago (rather quickly I might add). So I am making a list of things I want and seeing if he can hunt them down for me...

I like either one. It's worth noting, though, at least on the one in the ClubTokyo archives, the dark green version has the fins put on upside down...

I've noticed that issue on a few other Marmits as well. The red G84 has the same problem. It kinda makes it look more like the suit & less like the cybot in profile, but it's innaccurate for what the figure is based on. (the cybot)

Today I went by one of the stores I frequent, and this particular store hasn't had much of interest lately , so I almost skipped it (and the weather today in Tokyo is just downright *NASTY*...very cold and raining non-stop. The forecast said there's a small chance we may get snow tomorrow ). At the last second, however, I decide to drop by before my long train ride home, and lo and behold to my pleasent surprise, look what they had :D

While it wasn't the main figure of this G suit I was looking for (I was/am still looking for the G68-69 MH figure and Gonad-Goji figure), this Hedo-Goji figure was a steal at 4000 yen ($45) and brand new.

I have to agree with Legion's comments in that the arms, though not *that* bad, do leave a lot to be desired and are this figure's main weakness. In spite of the lackluster arms and even though it may be the "weakest" of the three 8 inch Marmit MH G68/G72 figures, I still think it is a fantastic figure....I really am digging it. :bouncy: In fact, I think this figure is better than Bandai's 6 inch 68/72 figure. I know the whole "pictures don't do it justice, you must see it in person" line is becoming cliche, but it's the damn truth when it comes to most GB/Marmit figures, and this one is no exception.

I also love this color scheme too...it seems to be a "matte" paint scheme as it's not shiny at all (the camera flash makes it look shiny, but it's not).

Next on the list....Gigabrain G62 (black like my Mosu-Goji), Marmit MH G68, Marmit Hedo/Gonad-Goji, Marmit MH Megaro-Goji, Pilot Ace King Ghidorah Gold (though I don't have much hope in finding this...even in Japan, this figure is very elusive), and a Gigabrain Hedorah, because this Hedo-Goji figure needs a kickass Hedorah figure to go along with him! 8-)

I know I've said this before, ebirahsmeg1, but: It's absolutely amazing how well Marmit figures capture the personality of the suit they represent. In the third picture you posted, you immediately recognize each suit, whereas with some toy makers, it's not always so obvious.

Great pick up, by the way. :)

As far as the '67 is concerned do not buy any version other than the matte one. Believe me, you'll thank me later. It's unbelievable.

That's the best 67 toy ever made in my opinion.
