Sounds like a scene from Wild at Heart, thanks for the nice atmosphere.

These are the best kinds of places to get ideas for writing, painting, photography....

I used to be more adventurous, too, these days I prefer not to be alone when I'm out in strange places :?

Did you do the River Walk in SA yet? I somewhat remember that, but "that" was 35 years ago. I remember it being really nice.

I've had weird Texas adventures. All over that huge state, lots of highway stuff, the landscape there is so... varied from border to border in any direction.... drove through all hours of day and night, one time driving through a heavy storm and seeing a series of fires randomly ignite on the horizon from lightning strikes. Pretty scary, actually. Midwest weather is so freaky.

Some of the bugs and critters there are unsettling, too!

My dad's from East Texas, with relatives north AND south, I lived in CC for a little bit, but again that was 35 years ago. Dad dragged us back there from Calif. in late '74 for the last time, and the crazy church people and an inner city school I never fit in with were both enough to get me on a Greyhound bus back out to Calif. I was 14, and Mom was waiting for me.

I keep getting invited to go back, and I should.....the religious inlaws are no longer batsheet crazy, and being in the area might find some closure on a couple things, but most likely might not.... there's so many places to travel, though, I'd rather go someplace I haven't been, yet something tells me to go. I think my brother and sister in law live in Marfa these days. I know that's got to be somewhere out in the absolute center of nothing, but I'm told there's a bit of an artsy fartsy thing taking place there. That's intriguing. Whatever, I need to get back to work, end of break.

Thanks for the Night in the City! 8-)
