SUPER MONSTER (aka GAMERA, SUPER MONSTER) was made strictly as a children's movie and was entirely meant to be a one-off film. It was almost immediately picked up for US distribution by American International Pictures, who were soon thereafter absorbed by Filmways (who later were absorbed by Orion Pictures, who were later absorbed by MGM). SUPER MONSTER had it's US premiere on MTV in 1981.

I actually enjoyed SUPER MONSTER, in all it's cheap goofiness. I'd watch it before ZIGRA anyday!
