Early look at Shout's Gamera Double Feature DVDs

I think Kain is upset about having two single-movie DVDs on his shelf next to two double-feature DVDs, as opposed to it being all of one or the other. If I were him, I'd be more worried about the fact that he arranges his titles from right to left like a Bizarro library.

Out of curiosity, August, do you know if Shout! are planning to reissue Gamera and Gamera vs. Barugon as a double-feature DVD somewhere down the line?

I actually very happy that the Sandy Frank dubs are on these, because those are the ones I grew up with and I think they're hilarious.

You're misunderstanding us; we're not saying you have to love everything, but it's weird to see people who love Godzilla who refuse to give Ultraman (for example) a chance — especially the original series, which is like mini-'60s Toho Monster Movies. "Why limit oneself?" is the question. It's just narrow-minded — Gamera is Godzilla's only rival, after all.

You're analogy is a bit flawed, because "Rock" is such an immensely broad spectrum of music (Fusion, Classic, Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, Punk, Math, Hardcore, Rockabilly, Grindcore, etc., etc.). Meanwhile, the Japanese Monster Movie is a pretty small genre. Again, no one is forcing you to "like" anything, but you also can't justify your narrow view in such an already narrow genre. Danny Tokarz and I spoke about this at G-Fest a couple of years ago — I mean, you must get sick of watching the same movies over and over, right?

Variety is the spice of life!
