Which probably answers the question of where they got their info for the proposed "Batman vs. Godzilla" movie back in '65. I call BS on that story.

As for Legend of the Dinosaurs, I love this movie. Besides the admittedly bad props, I think the movie as a whole is a pretty workable horror tale (definitely more of a "horror" movie than a kaiju/dinosaur movie, and yes, The Last Dinosaur does blow this out of the water). I saw this as a kid, and it has grown on me with age. It's also one of the few films that actually still scares me a bit.

And the soundtrack! Love the soundtrack! I envy you, Flame, for having it. I actually ripped the opening theme from the DVD. There's this big dam near where I live, with a bunch of winding roads overlooking the rocky shores of Lake Lanier, and I love driving there with this theme playing. Makes me feel swanky.

Oh for the love of...sigh...Planet of the Dinosaurs isn't that bad, especially considering all the crap a lot of us fans watch...good effects, the bearded alpha male dude, some attractive ish women...disposable cast with a high body count...creepy, atmospheric music...it's not gonna change the world but man it's fun..another favorite of mine...

Mouth...I think we just differ when it comes to the Dino flicks my friend..though I think everyone loves One Million BC

Wow, nice to see somebody actually posting in here!

I have a fondness for this film that I can't quite explain. The SPX are relatively poor, the film has odd pacing, the characters are only marginally interesting, and the ending is a love or hate kind of thing (I personally dig it). It doesn't help that the English dub seems to have been dubbed at Frontier Enterprises (who did the international dubs for EBIRAH, SON OF GODZILLA and DESTROY ALL MONSTERS), and is particularly bland, and makes the film a lot harder to endure. Had it been dubbed by the Hong Kong dubbers, it may have been more enjoyable in a "so bad it's good" kind of way.

Beyond all of that though, we have a bizarre 70's tokusatsu piece that manages to be somewhat atmospheric, for such a ho-hum film, and surprisingly gory for a "dinosaur" film (I know they're not dinosaurs, but it still fits into that category, IMO). The music, while not everyone's cup of tea (IMO), rocks. Sure, some of it sounds like it was derived from a bad 1970's porno , but maybe that's part of the charm. I can't quit explain it. I just like funky 70's music *shrugs*.

I'll have to watch it again to see how I feel about it (it's been a while), but I've always liked the film. I much prefer THE LAST DINOSAUR (which is a lot better, and more "fun" overall), but I can't deny that something about this film resonates with me. It's more than likely my fondness for 70's tokusatsu, more than anything.

Double bill of this film and The Last Dinosaur!! Huzahh!! I'm going to wait a little while though, I watch The Last Dinosaur way too often lol. (The Green Slime too, thanks MGM )
