The Book of Eli

I did a search for this and couldn't find a thread on it.

I just saw this on DVD and I have to say, I thought it was pretty good. It's a TOUCH on the long side, but maybe I'm just a sucker for post-apocalyptic films. It's certainly nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews I'd read, and it's only at it's very end that I took issue with anything.

MINOR SPOILERS: (highlight to read)
Up until the very end, it's left pretty well open to discussion whether this can be considered a religious pilgrimmage, or just a quest by a man to preserve a piece of history, despite it being controversial (and perhaps even destructive)...but then at the very end (and I mean like, the last 5 minutes or so) the directors really smash us over the head with "this is supposed to be RELIGIOUS and GOD CONQUERS ALL"

I thought this was a totally decent flick, overall though bolstered by some very strong performances from Washington and Oldman...Mila Kunis has also come a LONG way from That 70s Show (although it's not like she was a bad actor in that show, it's just that she's doing a LOT now to break her typecasting)

It lacks the personality of The Road, but it manages to steer clear of the realm of ridiculous that Road Warrior plunges into.

Not an awful movie, but I really didn't care for it. I thought it was way too preachy and I thought the twist was kinda lame.
