Pretty ok I guess...I dug it until about the least third of the film...I liked where it went even if it was a bit obvious...and it felt like a little bit too far of a stretch for the male protagonist to do what he did...but for the sake of the movie I was willing to allow it because it took the movie to some interesting places. Ultimately for me, my biggest problem with the film is Dren's final change...it really..I dunno...the science on that is iffy at best...just because the slugs changed liked that didn't mean she had to...and really...if she hadn't changed they could have taken the finale into a much more heartbreaking route as opposed to what she turns into..i no longer really felt "she" was sympathetic any more...

The "twist" reveal ending also felt a little tacked on and again...logically it didnt make too much sense from her point of view...I felt like she would have more of Veronica from The Fly sort of reaction and not be so at peace with her fate...but then again...she's kind of a monster in some ways too...

All in all...a vey interesting film that I think I will really like more on a second viewing...with some tweeks in the scripting phase this could have been one of the best movies I've seen in the last decade or so (from America at least)

One of the most Cronnenbergian movies I've ever seen...everything from the score, to the gore...to the sex...you have to respect the film makers for at least trying to do something different when everything in cinema is pretty bland these days

Excellent movie.

I can see how people would draw parallels with Species at a glance, but definitely not the same movie. Dren is a much more "Frankenstein's monster" type of sympathetic being, while Sil basically turns into your run of the mill creature on the loose after pupating on the train. Dren wanted to be loved...Sil wanted to be bred. ;)

It was interesting how the more "human" Dren became, the less "human" the scientists' turned out.
