As beloved and as fun as the Daleks are, I do agree that they need a longer rest, especially since Doctor Who has a massive array of other classic aliens and monsters that need retuning.

Omega, Axons, Drashigs, The Rani, Cheetah People, Ice Warriors, Ogrons, Sutekh, Primords, the Rutans, The Black Guardian, Quarks, and Zaygons...I'm still waiting!

Unfortunately, Mark Gaitess does such a fantastic job with Victory that I'm now for a Dalke return next year, as opposed to the past, where thanks to RTD's overkill with the pepper pots, I would have been happy not seeing them ever again. Even with the surpassingly good update of Davros himself.

As for the Master's comments on kids hiding behind their sofas in relation to the Daleks, I think it had less to do with the Daleks themselves then in relation to what to were capable of; I still watch Resurrection of the Daleks and still can't believe this was meant as 'family hour' entertainment. But let's face it, there's a lot in the series to scare children, iconic tank-cyborgs not withstanding.

So I just watched Victory of the Daleks and Time of Angels and my god, they were both incredible. Victory of the Daleks was cool, but wouldn't there be two Doctors existing at that same time since that should also be when the little boy would be walking around? Anyway, Time of Angels was just down right phenomenal. I was so mad when it ended because there was no indication that it was going to be a multi parter, and now I have to wait until next week for it. My god though, the Weeping Angels are the coolest villians in the series, even moreso than the Cybermen.

I absolutely love Kinda and Snakedance (just saw that both will be released on DVD next year, phew!). In many ways they're better in concept than they were visualized. I always thought it was a mistake to show the snakes at all. They weren't what was scary about the Mara. It was the Trickster, the possession and the atmosphere of both stories.

Considering how much Moff loves the Davison era, I wouldn't be surprised to see them return, and I'd love to see his take on the Mara. But he'd have to figure out a new trick and motivation for it, as possession was done so well in Midnight.

"The Time of Angels" and "Flesh and Stone"...

WOW.

Not only was this set a superb story -- and F&S was all at once exciting, suspenseful, scary, sexy, and hilarious -- but Moffat is doing something very, very clever here that runs not only through this series, but creates an arc that reaches back even further. When you watch F&S, watch very carefully starting at 17:20...

Now I have to go back and watch all of this series episodes again!

The Hungry Earth was... alright. I'll save the details for the moment, but it felt like it was doing a lot more setting up for the second half than carrying a solid story on its own. Still fun anyway. The weirdest and most suspicious part was the mundane waving at the beginning. You'll see what I mean.
