Has Warner Brothers let slip who will direct Godzilla?

I'm pretty sure will be our guy. Warner Brothers has just announced that they are fast tracking a Clash of the Titans sequel for 2012 but it will not have Louis directing it. I think they just showed their hand. This was after all the talk of Warner Brothers and Louis putting together a trilogy of Clash movies. :wink:

I honestly think Leterrier walking from the Clash sequel is more a result of his awful post-production experience with his last film than it is a hint at him doing Godzilla. Even though he didn't get final cut on Hulk, it still got good reviews and was well received by critics and audiences. With Clash, the studio re-cut his film into something that was panned pretty much across the board. I wouldn't be surprised if he just doesn't want to continue working with Legendary.

But if he does get the job, I won't have any complaints. The final fight in the Incredible Hulk shows he knows how to handle big scale monster destruction.

They should just cut the s h i t and finally let Godzilla direct himself. Guy's been acting for so long he definitely is due for the Mel Gibson route. Get Anguiras as DP and you've got the dream team production crew.

Just make sure Christian Bale doesn't trash Ebirah's lights.

I was thinking again...
When I first heard Mr. Banno wanted to make a 3-D, IMAX Godzilla movie, I said "Well, that's not gonna happen." I thought IMAX technology (lenses, and focus issues) was unsuitable for "trick" photography of miniatures and that 3-D was too challenging and expensive for a Japanese spfx movie. (I also said Godzilla would never get a star on Hollywood Blvd.)
Now, I have to credit Mr. Banno for the vision thing five years ago that a 3-D IMAX movie was a good idea. I guess IMAX technology has changed too.
Perhaps some of his story ideas are also feasible. Maybe he could have more of a role in this movie than just another associate producer. Maybe Mr. Banno could have some real input. Maybe it's time to "let Banno be Banno?"
