He was pretty badass back in 1993, wasn't he? Hell, he's still just as badass today. The original Jurassic Park only had 9 minutes of CGI mixed with heavy use of giant robots.
I always see people talking about either suits of CGI, but they never bring up using a big robot. Yeah, Toho has done this before, but it was clunky and can be done much better. I'd love to see Legendary build a nice big Godzilla bot smashing detailed miniatures mixed with CGI in this game. I know a robot was used in a few minor scenes in GINO, and they worked well enough. I like to see a vast majority of the next movie with sophisticated puppets like that instead of suits.
