I'm sorry, but that is NOT Medusa. Medusa, a creature SO DAMN HIDEOUS that people turn to stone when they see her? Its ALWAYS been a huge pet peeve of mine to see a "pretty" Medusa in art, sculpture, etc. That's what made Ray's so great, she was truly REPULSIVE... but no, this "sexy" thing looks like it walked out of a Species movie and takes away the whole point of Medusa! This is worse than black Pegasus.

I have heard Harryhausen say the exact same thing in interviews. If only the kids of today making this movie will listen to the man!

Obviously with Medusa they went the sexy route to entice young males...OK, and I agree that Medusa should be portrayed as hideous as stated elsewhere, but I offer this opinion, would it not be easier for Medusa to have a certain attractiveness in order to bait the unsuspecting into looking at her? I mean go to any bar and unless beer goggles are employed, the hags are never stared at however the attractive ladies are ogled. So to employ a sexier Medusa would give credence to her effectiveness in turning the unwitting into statues.

IDK either way, I only passively watched Ray's version and I feel that the lack of respect for his movie is sad with regards to the new film's creators...they should have used discretion and simply said that they respect Ray's movie, but are looking to create their own vision of the story that has nothing to do with his. Comparisons are inevitable, but simply to disregard his vision is not very professional. It falls into GINO territory with their disregard for history. Just say, "This is our version" and stand by it.....though GINO didn't work out too well, I think this may surprise people.

Early buzz states that yes...in fact this film will surprise many people by not totally sucking and actually being rather enjoyable...I'll wait and see but I'd love if Harryhausen eventually signed off on a finished version of this film...one can dream

Perhaps a refresher in Greek mythology is needed here because, like the bible, there is no one-true literal interpretation, there are various versions all of which have their own take added to it over the years.

My own impressions of the myth are that she retained her beauty which was the point of the punishment, that men would gaze into he eyes and be turned to stone.

FWIW, I like the new Medusa, it ties in with the old CotT and what I've come to imagine of the various mythologies.
