That trailer left me wholly unimpressed. It looks like they're just taking the original Nightmare and giving it the exact same treatment as the Texas Chainsaw remake, carbon-copying kills from the original and giving the villain a ridiculous sympathetic angle.

And what the hell is up with Freddy's design? If anything didn't need to be changed at all about the character, it was his design. Now he looks like the Scarecrow from the "Nothing to Fear" episode of Batman: The Animated Series.

I'll be skipping this.

I was just listening to a set report on a horror podcast and some interesting things were brought up. First off, Wes Craven, who has enjoyed a bit of a renaissance from being involved in remakes of his own films is apparently disgusted with this movie, doesn't want to talk about it, and doesn't want anything to do with it. Second off, apparently the director of the remake has said A LOT of derogatory things on the set about the original film and about Wes. Heck, at least Rob Zombie was actually a fan of the original Halloween, even if his remake sucked. Sounds like the pretentious Dean Devlin mentality to me. "Our version is better, everything else is garbage." And for people who seem to have no respect for Wes, they sure have no problem copying scenes from his film shot for shot. So that should give you an idea of the kind of people behind this movie. Not that I'm surprised... it's Platinum Dunes we're talking about here. They are notorious for lying to fans and doing stupid things.

yeah, with a child molester motif, there are so many ways you could scare people on a psychological level...why add a plot point to a movie that doesnt actually SERVE the plot?!?

it's like one of my only complaints about Trick 'r Treat...why specifically call out Rhonda as an idiot-savant (and who in the name of holy hell says 'idiot-savant' anymore? did the screenwriter forget the word AUTISM?!?) when she never ONCE has an 'idiot-savant' moment and the fact of it does NOTHING to serve the plot whatsoever??

Kind of looks like Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes / Devils Rejects) if he decided to dress up like Freddy for a day.
