Looking for an old dinosaur movie.

Postby TerranigmaFreak » Sun Nov 15, 2009 1:47 pm

I don't know what it's called. I remember seeing clips of it back in elementary school, so it's a bit vague. All I can describe was that I saw a T.rex walk out of a cave or something, while cavemen throw spears at it. One of the spears hit it in the chest, but it just pulls the spear out. Again, this is a vague recollection of a short clip. I can tell you what it's NOT.

It's not the Allosaurus scene from One Million Years BC. It's not When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth. It's definitely not Valley of Gwangi. I never actually seen One Million Years BC. I only saw clips of it on Youtube, and it was the Allosaurus attack. I know that's not the scene, but could it also be another scene from One Million Years BC? There aren't that many Caveman vs Dinosaur movies out there. Oh, it's not Caveman either. Ironically, this video I saw in elementary school also included clips of Caveman. I remember the stoned T.rex scene very vividly.

So does anyone have any ideas? I'm sorry it's so vague.

the stoner rex in Caveman doesn't get spears chucked at him though. funny movie.

sounds to me it's One Million Years, BC (1966, the best dinosaur movie ever). there's a hungry allosaurus attack on the Shell People which involves spears and cavemen.

the R1 DVD looks good, but it's the cut US version, missing some animation here and there (and the missing link tribe's vicious beat down on one of it's own members).

Ok, I saw it. The movie as a whole is not that bad. The acting bites, and the music is hilariously bad, but otherwise, the plot is simple, but it works. Kinda like Land of the Lost but with a space twist. It's definitely campy, but fun. What little they were able to flesh out for the characters worked, and I thought the girl crying after the sing at the bonfire was pretty touching. The ending's kinda lame, though. The way they killed the T.rex was stupid. BTW, off the top of my head, this is the only stop motion dinosaur movie with a T.rex in it. That's very surprising.

Anyway, you guys got anymore old stop motion dinosaur movies to recommend?

Movies I've seen
Valley of Gwangi
When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth
Caveman
Planet of Dinosaurs
King Kong
Son of Kong
Lost World (silent)

Only classic I haven't seen is One Million Years BC. Any other good unknown dino movies? I specifically list stop motion because I hate the ones with lizards dressed as dinosaurs.

there's also:

Dinosaurus
The Beast From Hollow Mountain

both of which are fun if you have low expectations. I think you have the rest.
