"SHERLOCK HOLMES": Asylum's Destroy All Monsters?!

Postby AVERY GUERRA » Tue Oct 27, 2009 7:44 pm

Ha! Sorry guys about the title...just had too. Seriously though; Asylum is set to go up against the new Hollywood big budget version of "Sherlock Holmes" with their own take on the character. Their version while much lower budgeted and less destined for any Oscars looks way more fun and has him going up against a full array of giant-sized creatures from dinosaurs, to dragons, to giant octopus and possibly more!! I'm just wondering how much stock footage of dragons from "Merlin And The War Of The Dragons', 'DragonQuest', 'King Of The Lost World', 'Dragon', footage of dinos from '100 Million B.C.' and 'The Land That Time Forgot', and of giant octopus from 'Monster' and 'Mega-Shark versus Giant Octopus' will be incorporated?? Either way; Toho was notorious for their use of stock footage back in the day too. With all these giant critters running about causing destruction in one flick I'm so there!! Here's our first article from before what types of giant monsters would be in it had been announced:

I guess it's not going to be an adaptation of my favorite Conan Doyle story, "Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Mansquito".

The first short fx video clips have been released and we've compiled them into one short video for ya. They give us a little glimpse at one of the many cool giant monsters the film has in store for us!! Check them out at "Undead Backbrain"!!:

Yep, already looks a lot better than it's Hollywood competition.

I recently saw the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes. It was interesting, well done and definitely enjoyable, though it's hardly incredible. I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel.

I know this is in print somewhere but I've always wanted to see a movie that would pit SH against Dracula. A big budget take on this story pitch would be awesome!

The film looks like a blast! Way cooler than that big Hollywood version. A mecha-dragon, T-Rex, and a giant octopus?! Hell yeah! It looks like Asylum's most polished effort yet! It hits dvd on the 26th.[this Tuesday!!] and I'm so there!

An at the most common portrayals of Holmes.

I grew up with Rathbone as Holmes and it is his face that always comes to mind when I think of the character. Once I really read all the stories and then saw the Granada series, I realized that Brett truly pegged the true characteristics like probably no one else will ever do again.

RDJr did a fine job at acting in this new movie, but like the movie itself, it was entertaining but not anywhere close to accurate.
