What could the point POSSIBLY be to making Freddy wrongly accused? It's a horror movie,he's a villian. The fact that he killed all those kids and enjoyed it was one of the things that made him,you know, what's that word? Scary?

And no,remaking NOES is NOT the same thing as making a Dracula or Frankenstein movie. In many cases the Universal movies aren't even the first time that character had been brought to the movie screen. They're just the best of the many, many adaptations.

People forget that what made the movies so popular to begin with were the villains that were scary and repugnant and totally out of their minds...

making freddy a sympathetic character is just another step along the line that the character has taken since basically the second movie, that of a jokester who HAPPENS to kill people and not a true VILLAIN...

in many ways, freddy kreuger has become a lot like a Gremlin...

My problems with the trailer:

The voice will take some getting used to...

The 'look' of Freddy is so iconic that the new look just seems like a fail
He looks great in profile though

Platinum Dunes doing the Friday thing and replicating what looks to be almost all of the kills from the first movie...horror fans are like druggies...it's gonna take something more potent and powerful to knock us on our a$$es these days...not the same old same old, we need something new that reminds us of how we felt the first time seeing the kills from the original...we do not need the original kills and scenes beyond maybe one or two for homage sake

I think this one is just my age bracket...I'm tired of these teenagers...I can even admit that the teens in these movies are given better scripts to work with these days but still...something seems off...and upon just seeing their faces in this trailer I felt an instant disconnect...

What worked for me:

The trailer was less Platinum Dune-y than expected by me

The build up and the voices of the children singing was great

In general it's actually a very well put together trailer it's just everything that's in the trailer is the problem

Parting words:

I want to like this movie...and unless it's plauged by horrible reviews I guarantee I will be there opening weekend

The Director's work looks decent here, Jackie always hits it out of the park so we have some heavy hitters here and this reminds me of the fan outcry before Casino Royal actually

I do find it funny and hypocritical on the part of some horror fans that we can't be a little more open minded until the movie actually comes out. This film looks to be an almost exact 180 from the remake abortion that was Rob Zombie's Halloween...the iconic character in that movie (the first one anyways) looked more or less the same, but everything else was different and that movie did just what I said above about sprinkiling homages kill scenes through out the movie and I still hated it....this (and Friday like it or not) aims to at least get in the same ballpark as the original, one of the things they do change however is the iconic character's look...I'm working myself in circles here...let's just hope it's good but not expect anything great out of it...that's what I will do at least

I don't now...maybe I"m being TOO optimistic. I just don't want to believe they will F this up too badly. I have enjoyed several of Platinum Dunes' remakes, so I think it's possible I'll like this one too. There's only three movie series that I enjoy more than anything...Godzilla, Alien, and Elm Street...and after having my soul ripped out by GINO, and watching the Alien franchise decline (though I still enjoy all of them), my little fan boy heart just can't take another huge disappointment! It was hard enough when I learned the rumors of Robert's "retirement" from Freddy were true. This WILL be good...IT WILL! :D
