Ultraman symbiosis question

Postby king_ghidorah » Sat Aug 29, 2009 5:21 pm

Ok, so far the only Ultraman series I've watched is the original and am currently just starting Max...I am confused with one aspect of the Ultraman character and was hopeing that someone could clear it up for me....

When Ultraman joins with his human host...who is in control of whom and at what times? Is it Ultraman fighting the giant monsters or is the host in Ultraman's body? Is Ultraman influencing his host when he's in his human form? Or is it a tag team sorta thing? Thank you in advance and my apologies for the basic and probably stupid question...

I'll chime in first with a little info- they share the same physical space, and since no two bodies can occupy it, Ultraman or Hayata should be in "limbo" or perhaps, the Negative Zone (think Rick Jones/Captain Mar-Vell).

however, later on Ultraman Jack merged so fully with Hideki Go that Go had to leave Earth with Jack at the end of the series. Jack Shindo was shown "talking" to Ultraman Great, and that has happened in later Ultra shows.

I think mostly the writers play fast and loose with the concept as the story needs to go.

next?

I always figured they became some weird fusion being. When Ultraman and Hayata (or whichever duo you prefer) become Ultraman, they are two people fighting as one spirit. Or something like that. It's a weird concept to wrap your brain around but I like it. I also figure that as time goes on, they begin to fuse even more. Look at the Ultra Brothers' recent appearances in the Mebius series and movies: Hayata, Goh, and Hokuto ARE Ultraman, Jack, and Ace now. They have merged to become one and the same.
