I actually liked what they did with Dodongo, or at least tried to do. His design wise he seems based on the Chinese Qilin, or its more deer-like Japanese version called a Kirin. And even knowing the suit may have needed work, it offered one of the more unique dragons in Kaiju history, and always standing out from the crowed because of it.
I don't think you need to use only CGI if Dodongo was to ever return; just a better executed suit and two actors more instep with each other. And hopefully then, people would stop calling him dumb for the sake of calling him / it dumb (and yet Bemlar has fan-gropuies everywhere for some odd reason).
And I do love the fact that for a less remembered monster, Dodongo was Ultraman's pet / pal in that one segment in Ultraman M78: Love and Peace...you know, the one with Ultraman trapped in the bubble, and Dodongo chasing after him, as both pass a collection of Ultra characters enjoying a summer evening (King Joe's country house looks like a nice place to visit).

Ultraman has a wonderful variety of creature designs, right with a another long running franchises like Doctor Who and Star Wars. However, unlike those two, and probably because its KAIJU-related, many of the so-called 'normal' sized monsters and fantasy characters are often overlooked. So I want to give props to the Mummy Man / Ancient Mummy, who's mask / face is just as questionable in the execution department as his summoned dragon, but the overall idea is fantastic and appreciated.
However, because the Mummy Man may be some kind of alien (though his origins are still pretty ambiguous, since its all theories from Doctor Iwamoto), does that mean Dodongo is possibly extraterrestrial too?
