I want to see a Godzilla film that will be embraced in Japan just as much as it could be embraced here. I'd love nothing more than a really good American Godzilla film to kick start interest in the big guy in his home country. That would be ideal, as it would motivate companies like Bandai get back into the merchandise full-time, even if it doesn't go as far as resulting in new Toho films.

But I don't think the Japanese would embrace a dark, scary, horrific Godzilla. The Dark Knight didn't do well in Japan because people thought it was too dark.

Just thinking out loud, so the speak.
