Ultraman Episode #9: Operation Lightning Speed

The Basics: A typhoon awakens the monster Gabora, which promply goes on a rampage.

The Story: Not much to tell here. The whole plot is above, with the addition of two scouts who are trapped while trying to get food supplies for the rest of their troop. The Patrol is trying to lure the monster away from populated areas with a supply of uranium. Demerits for the suggestion that a mere 30 kilometers away is fine to let the beast eat what has to be a large supply of uranium. That'd be dangerous pretty much anywhere in Japan as far as its capacity to permanently irradiate the area.

The Kaiju: Yet another modified Baragon monster. I really like the design on this one. The bullet head I prefer, but it doesn't look bad as the flower petal look either. The roar(Toho's Kong) doesn't always seem right. Ultraman beats him ridiculously easy. He throws him around a bit, tears off a few "petals", and the monster just falls down. Gabora didn't really seem hurt enough to be finished off so quick. And since everyone knew who Gabora was the moment he appeared, I'll assume he's been around a while.

The Acting: Not bad. Hayata seems a bit more human in this one. (Him being too "perfect" is one of the main problems in the series IMO.)

The SPFX: Pretty good. I like Gabora's first appearance.

The Other Stuff: This is the last modified Baragon outfit in the series. An okay episode for me. Doesn't really stand out from the pack, but not bad. Oh....and yet another implausible..." we're hiding in the back so we can tag along on a dangerous mission " moment. This time both Fuji AND Hoshino get on that TINY helicopter without anyone noticing. LOL

I liked Gabora until his flowerhead opened, then he was just kinda plain. Not awful, but I was expecting something a little more creative than his simple pug face.
