My vote goes with G III, though it's a toss-up between it and GotU. G II is definitely the weak film in the trilogy, for me.

GOTU for me. It had the best fight and the best vibe to it. G2 was just kinda...pointless and needlessly slow-paced (plus IMO the final battle was pretty bad), and G3 was almost as good as GOTU, but not quite because it wasn't a very satisfactory resolution for me and the monsters seemed to take a backseat to those two really annoying crazy people. :P

G3 since it was a very well done story and invited back a lot of old favorite characters and the special effects were probably on par with that of Hollywood.

Well IMHO think that both G3 and G2 final battles are what a real monster battle would have looked like. and what happened in the final battle of GvsSG that was sooo good? are you talking about that cheap ripoff of Mechagodzilla destroying a tower? well if you think that was more exciting then the Army trying to figure out how to stop the Legion swarm before its too late for Gamera and Earth itself. then you need help

At least the monsters slapped each other.

Godzilla: Sorry SG, I seem to have blundered into you while blinded by the beam I was firing in your general direction. Time to let you fire ineffectually at me while the giant silver penguin with the three morons inside saves the day.

I never said it was "vastly supirior becuase it had more action". Trust me, if that was my angle on kaiju movies I'd be on Ang's side about GvsMG'93/GvsSG. Rather, I find GOTU suprior because it has what makes or breaks a movie (but what few people realize is so important). Timing. This movie has a beat, a rythym, a pace that is like a rollercoaster and keeps things flowing so that movie never drags. That doesn't mean it needs more action, it can be done just by making sure plot developments move at a steady and tightly-bound pace. Certainly, I think GOTU's fights are superior to G3's because they have more interesting action, but a fight alone cannot dictate the overall quality of a moviegoing experience. No, I find GOTU to be a more enjoyable film becuase it's not so high-and-mighty over itself and is content to just be a breezy and fun popcorn flick. And besides, it's not like I hate G3 or anything. I'd rate it only slightly below GOTU, and even then it really just comes down to what mood I'm in (though more often than not, I'm in a GOTU mood). And it's my opinion, whether you like it or not--so no need to get catty about it like you always do, GD. :P

I think GD is being a bit unfair to GOTU myself...

I'm not retyping this, read my reviews!

WHY DO PEOPLE PUT SO MANY GDAMMED WORDS IN MY MOUTH???

Sorry, nothing personal MechaGamera, it's just that this always happens: I say GOTU is the best Gamera movie, someone somehow intertwines it with the fact that I don't hate GvsSG, and next thing you know I think GvsSG is the best movie ever, G3 sux, and GOTU is mind-blowing.

Again, I'm not angry at you per se MechaGamera. I'm just angry that this exact thing always happens whenever we discuss this. But I dare you to find one time where I said GvsSG's final battle was better than G2's. In fact, notice I have avoided the GvsSG angle altogether since it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the discussion at hand.

Exactly.

But since I can see that if I don't shoot it down now this will go on, let me say this: G2's battle is technologically superior to GvsSG's. That's all I'm going to say since it has NADA, ZIP, ZILCH to do with what we are talking about. :P

Sorry, had to get that out.

Gamera's enterance was indeed cool, but once he landed, the monsters, as I said, just "hugged", and regardless of how much body matter started flying off, there just was no impact in their fighting style. Notihn in the battle felt very urgent to me; same with G3. It's just a personal prefernce and I am in no way 'dissing' either of those fights, but to me they just seemed slow as molasses and none of the simultaneous secondary action felt very desperate either. It just felt murky to me.
