could someone tell me why everybody seems to hate Michael Bay?

The man has a large ego and has no shame in showing it off. That rubs people the wrong way. I don't care for him, I don't mind a few films he has made, but he is a pretty arrogant prick.

Some other forums, you will find that people bash directors like Peter Jackson. God, Lucas and Spielberg get hammered when Indy 4 came out. Now nobody talks about them.

Bay has his fan base and there is nothing wrong with liking his movies. Bay just inherited a lot of hate because he decided to take on one of the most beloved franchises in sci-fi and on top of that he admits to not liking Transformers to begin with.

Same reason we don't like Emmerich and Devlin (I can't remember if one or the other or both thought the original Godzilla movies were stupid)

Wouldn't you dislike someone for messing with something you cared about? Plus Bay's movies are generally disliked by the majority of people. (movie geeks)

Maybe I saw a different TCM then, but the movie I saw was more of a horror comedy. I mean seriously, Leatherface goes into some radio station, and then pretends to slice a girl up with his chainsaw, only to then fall in love with her and help her even though his family told him to kill her.
