^ I've always wondered what happened to the girl who played the
daughter in (I believe) Amityville 2. She was in a few other films back at the time and then she vanished. I always thought she was very pretty.
Anyone know what happened to her? Was here name Diane or Diana
something?

She was in an episode or two of Freddy's Nightmares and some other TV series throughout the 80's, but I don't think she did much else....she was indeed cute!

I wanted to bump this great thread to recommend a flick to you 80s creature lovers out there. SHOUT! Factory just released it as part of their Roger Corman Cult Classics series. Its called "Galaxy of Terror" and its complete and utter madness from start to finish. Its not a great film by any means, but its kind of a forgotten gem of the 80s "gooey practical effects and crazy monsters" genre. Its kind of a riff on Alien and Forbidden Planet. Its about a ship that goes on a rescue mission to another planet and the crew are picked off one by one by the manifestation of their greatest fear. I'm pretty sure Paul W Anderson ripped Event Horizon from this film.

And check out this cast: Erin Moran (Joanie from Happy Days, whose head explodes!), Sid Haig, Robert Englund, Ray Walston (Mr Hand from Fast Times!), Grace Zabriskie... how a WACKY ass film like this with a cast like that remained so rare for so long is a mystery!

The most famous scene is of a woman being raped by a giant maggot. This scene (and the rest of the death/monster scenes) were directed by the production/art designer and 2nd unit director, who was some dude named James Cameron. Cameron actually had a lot of creative input in the design of this film and it shows. The whole look of it is basically all from Cameron, which was revealed on the special features. The interviews on the special features say that Cameron's infamous perfectionist attitude was around even as early as this film. It almost seems like this film was almost as much his as it was the director's. A lot of future Cameron trademarks make their debut here in the creature designs, sets, and death sequences. Cameron would also take a lot of the effects crew from this film and make them regulars on his crew for his future blockbusters. One of those guys was the set designer, who was Bill Paxton (who has been in most of JC's films to date).

If you miss the James Cameron who made dark, daring films like ALIENS and TERMINATOR, this is worth checking out, as this is kind of the starting point for those films and has a similar all around atmosphere to it. Really makes me wish he'd make another horror film.

Not a great film, but certainly a lot of fun and really imaginative in places. Check it out!
