I've been a die hard Godzilla fan since second grade and have made it well known in my life (I still own and wear a couple Godzilla t-shirts). I am now 24 years old and well into college. I have Godzilla stuff all over my house, especially my bedroom (which my ex-girlfriend described as looking "like Godzilla threw up all over it").

It has never caused a single problem in my entire life... not with girls, kids at school, parents, teachers, anything. Some people may have found it an odd interest, but nobody ever judged me or gave me a hard time about it. Some people might kinda jokingly tease me, but that's nothing serious... that's just how people work, especially guys... we bust eachother's balls.

And I've honestly gotten quite a few people into kaiju movies.

I have the room of a twelve-year-old and I love it! And actually, I never catch any flack for that - all my friends dig it and love that they see new things they never noticed before each time they come in!

Ahhh, the pleasures of being an art major. Makes it even easier to get away with this stuff. :lol:

Has any of you had a science teacher asked alloud, "I wonder where Planet X came from" and you said outloud, breaking the scielence "Godzilla vs. Monster Zero"? I did.

Did you ever have an air force worker talk about the F86F Saber Jet and ask about who has seen Godzilla movies and I am the only one to raise a hand and then get the evil eye from 90% of the classroom? That happened to me. In the same school year, in the same semester, in the same grading period.

G2KMaster, do you attend Warner Robins High School? My dad lives in Warner Robins and that's where I spent my freshman and sophomore years.

I know it upsets you to get mocked for liking Godzilla and all, but as others here have said, you're bringing it on yourself. You put a Godzilla toy on your desk in the middle of class, you're going to get laughed at. You put a Batman toy on your desk you'll get laughed at. It doesn't matter what character or what franchise it represents. People who decorate their desks with toys are going to get laughed at.

Try and ease up on the kaiju stuff when it comes to other people. When you're with a group of friends and just talking and bullshitting about whatever, don't try to bring up something like GMK. I assure you that they don't give a damn, and the more you try to push it on them, the more they're going to roll their eyes not just at you and what you're saying, but at Godzilla in general. You can't make people see these films the way you see them just by insisting on it, or even just by showing them the films. Most people in this nation that you show GMK to are going to laugh at it, and that's just the way it is. If you like the movie, just watch it yourself and like it. Don't worry about what other people think.

And I'm with Kiryugoji, I can't find this thread in this Showa Era forum that you refer to. Can we get a link?
