I agree as well. Yes, the time-travel elements do mess up, but really it should be thought of as more of a gimmick amongst a movie that has one of the darkest protrayals I've ever seen of Godzilla. I remember that GvKG was very likely the first ever Godzilla movie I saw, back when it was shown as part of BBC Two's Monster Night at some ungodly hour (immediately after the '70s version of King Kong), and when it got to the part where Godzilla blew Shindo away, I didn't just really like this movie - I bloody loved it.
