The Grudge 3

Postby Dr Kain » Sat May 16, 2009 12:35 pm

We rented The Grudge 3 last night, and while it was bad, it was a lot better than the second one. I did like the ending, but the girl who was casted as Kayako was terrible though, as she could not pull off the body contortions like the previous actress, as most of them in this movie seemed to be done using CGI. Now that is something I do not ever think CGI should be used for. On a positive side, the guy who got possessed by the father did a fantastic job of re-enacting him, and is probably the best job I have ever seen. If you somewhat enjoyed the second one, then definitely give this one a rental, but neither one is anywhere near as good as the first one.

I'd say stick with the Japanese line, the Ju On movies! they are much better IMO & they are the homeland originals of course, I love and own Ju On 1 & 2. great haunting & eerie films, far superior to their western adaptations I will grab the new Japanese versions when they come out, as for the Grudge, I might give it a watch at some point.

Well obviously everybody has their own opinions, me personally I like the Ju On Movies and I even like the V Cinema movies better, I don't look at the Grudge series as the Homeland classics, due to the filming location & the mixed cast that is what I was getting at, void of it being Takashi Shimizu directing or not.

As for One Missed Call I never seen the American version of that, I would say that saying Japanese Horror as a whole sucks is being a bit harsh, when you have such classics as The Horror of Malformed Men & some of the other early Toei classics, Evil Dead Trap is amazing by my standards & Takashi Miki has released some great films as well! With Audition being one of my favorites.
