Don't celebrate too soon... CM didn't clean the digital master they got from Toho for the DVD release, but hopefully, they've got the recent Toho HD remaster to work with (or something else comparable). As far as the Raymond Burr version, I don't see how they could clean that one up without having the 35mm elements to work with... I'll wait to reserve judgement on these supposed HD transfers for the Blu-ray.

If true, this is definitely awesome news! As a followup to what Baradagi said, hopefully if they include KOTM they can insert the end credits in the right place this time!

All this means is that we'll be able to see the scratches, dirt and wear a whole lot clearer.

this news is the suck...

i already own the film on dvd...doubt I'll be blu-raying it unless it offers something really new...

i'd rather see blu-rays (or even dvds) for films we dont have releases for yet, like the entire heisei series (with the exception of G vs MG II)

I thought that Classic Media's contract with Genius Products expired, hence the previous DVD's showing up as OOP with retailers? Did they renew it?

The thing about KOTM, is that it ran on MonstersHD quite sometime (2004 at least) before the DVD set came out, yet the DVD used the master from the old Simitar disc and previous CM release.

I might buy it, but it depends. I am a huge Godzilla fan, but I just do not see how this can look better, and will they do an uncompressed audio track? If it does, then it will definitely be a must buy, but I would rather have the Heisei and Millennium series on Blu-Ray, especially since most of those I own are Region 2 DVDs.

EDIT:Okay, I'm retracting what I said, I cannot wait to buy this. The blue case just fits so well with the artwork that it jumps out at you and tells you this is a must buy.

However, this will be the third time I have bought it, as I bought it the region 2 DVD, the CM DVD, and now I'll be getting the BR.
