WAR OF THE GODS

From /film:
[quote="Devindra Hardawar "]I hated The Cell, but Tarsem’s visual feast The Fall finally convinced me of his genius. He may not be a master storyteller, but the man is a visual powerhouse. Empire recently caught up with him and was able to coax some plot details and prospective talent on his next project, War of the Gods:

From me this will sound shocking...but not everything needs to be dark and gritty...this is one of those cases....although I would love to see if only in comic book form a hard R ish take on Star Wars....lol.

26 March 2010. I too cannot wait...just hope that this will be enough time to pull off the effects well...the director seems to be one of the few who can preform well with little time or money. Im a unabashed fan of his work on Incredible Hulk...i just have soo many questions regarding this film...I don't think the first film is the end all that most do. In fact it bores me to tears...which is why this remake makes sense to me...great concept...original film is a lil flat though.

While I'll admit that Ray's "Clash" was not his best, at least his stop-motion was never over-the-top. With talks about how "boring" it was, will that green-light producers of this remake to throw everything in including the kitchen sink to make it not boring?

It doesn't have to have a plethora of effects to entertain...if anything that is my problem with the first fim...the effects were top notch but all the human bits just didn't effect me. I know the effects will be great, I just hope the acting and story line are at least serviceable.

The thing is, anyone can do a movie of the Persius myth, but WHY does this have to be called Clash of the Titans? Clash was Ray's take on that myth with his unique sensibilities in it. The Kraken in it is HIS monster, not the giant octopus of mythology. And all these creatures will lose something when given the CGI treatment.

And the fact is that Ray is beyond pissed about the remake, so they should just call it Perseus or something. WHY NOT just do their own new version of the myth? Why remake somebody else's unique take on it? In my opinion, if the original film maker doesn't give a remake its blessing, it shouldn't happen... but like Hollywood really cares what real artists think. They just wanna make money.

You see...the things you have mentioned as problems with this remake are the same greivances I have with Halloween 2 Mouth....although...John Carpenter gave the original remake his his blessing so it is slightly different...he's just a cash "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" when you boil it down...

Maybe they can get Gus Van Zandt to do a shot by shot remake of Clash. Oh right, he already did that with Psycho and sucked donkey nuts and.

But a very, Mouth, was typed out about the '98 Psycho a while back.

And yes I agree with exactly what you're saying. There's a dearth of material for making a movie about any and all Greek legends. Why are they remaking Clash? Why did Van Vandt do a remake of Psycho instead of re-adapting Bloch's book?

I think terms like "lazy" and "stupid" come to mind.

I can care less what the director says, as long as the movie is good.
