Folks on a few different message boards have reported finding these at Best Buy already, and I've done the same. So, they're out there...

War of the Garganutas...

Decent packaging for the films. Surprised how brighter and "cleaner" the english print is compared to the Japanese one.

So far, I've noticed the following (please let me know if you have the same error and / or if this is how the disks are supposed to be this way):
- There is no root menu music playing on either disk. The other classic media Godzilla releases had root menu music...
- The Documentary Binging Godzilla down to size seems to freeze up (I think) around 31:02 at the scene where Rodan flies over the bridge and it comes crashing down into the water. In order to proceed with the rest of the documentary, you have to fast forward a little.

Other than that, great release! :th-up:

The Japanese version of WoTG looks like a recycled laserdisc master; dark and murky with a lot of aliasing, and everything looks stretched vertically slightly. The US version does look a lot better, but it doesn't look as good as, say, Universal's Toho Kong discs.

Describing what I see is not "nit-picking".

I completely forgot to say anything, but at the end of last week I got an email from DeepDiscount informing me that Rodan/WotG was shipping. Nothing yet since I used the free shipping option, but I eagerly anticipate its arrival. :D

Got the two disc set and checked them out last night. Something is goofy with the subtitle feature - it will not work on either disc with one of my players (Cyberhome 400) yet previous Class Media discs such as the recent Godzilla's Revenge work fine.

The goofy part is that both discs do display the subtitles on my other player. I realize the Cyberhome is a low-end player but what might be a reason why subtitles on previous CM discs work but these two new ones do not?

Got these in the mail Friday, and I must say I'm quite pleased. A little disappointed with the quality of the Japanese version of "War of the Gargantuas" in comparison with the American, as I find the original cut preferable, but nothing to raise too much ruckus about. The Japanese print of "Rodan" looks absolutely gorgeous! And the documentary is truly something to behold. A big hand to all those involved there--it's a very fine piece.

I had the same problem as KaijuZoo with the DVD player in my room. The subs on the previous Classic Media releases work fine, but not on these. I've tried it on a couple of other players and they show up plain as day. A bit odd, even though my player is rather old.

So I've got a couple of minor quibbles, but nothing that should dissuade people from buying these discs. They're terrific.
