I just alerted Classic Media to the email confirmation syntax problem. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

I can't believe I got this in the mail today!!!! If you order from www.godzillaondvd.com (Classic Media directly) apparently they are shipping these a LOT earlier than Sept. 4th.

Unfortunately going on business today and won't be able to watch it until tomorrow night.

Unbelievable!

I got my copy on Friday, what a great surprise! So far I've watched the Japanese version of RODAN, which looked fantastic, and was interesting finally seeing it after being used to the U.S. version (the lack of narration gives the movie a different feel at times). Pity the English version transfer is the same as the previous release. And, last but not least, the "Bringing Godzilla Down to Size" documentary was excellent! :D

EDIT: Watched the U.S. version of WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS, and that transfer was fantastic (complete with original credits/overlays), much better than the Japanese version (darker and murkier).. which was a shocker. It's great to have both versions on here though.

Got mine on Thurs. and watched the whole shindig! The documentary was quality work and refreshing, something that could be shown at a lot of those artsy film festivals, ya know?

RODAN: Japanese cut looked fine. English cut was pretty much the same transfer as previously released. Eh.

WOTG: Japanese cut, on first watch, at times seemed a little grainy and dark, but just a little. Looked at my R2 disc to compare. Still good though. I think the real treat for some people is gonna be the English cut. Correct 2.35:1 ratio, "Henry G. Saperstein presents", UPA logo, nice transfer as far as I can see. Could see some details I couldn't see in the Japanese cut, obviously being a little brighter. Anyway, you probably couldn't do a "reconstruction" for the U.S. cut, I think. Overall, a fine package. Now, Classic Media, where's that Season 4 boxset of Rocky and Bullwinkle?!?! (guffaw, wink)

i am looking forward to this DVD set. even though the Japanese version of Rodan is inferior to the US cut (due to that final speach) i may actually watch it.

and i just love the Gargantuas. one can only hope the "international" trailer is included... heck, having the "international" dub as an option would be pretty cool also.

No trailers in the set, David. The DVD contents are what I listed on SFJ back in July. The link I posted today has pics of everything that is in the set.

I know Steve Ryfle pushed for the international dub of WOTG to be included as an extra but it's not on this DVD.

Just curious if the Japanese version translated "They were probably on a bad LSD trip!", as it really was said or change it to something else all together, like they did with some of Nick Adams' lines.

Honda shot some scenes twice, one with Tamblyn for the US version, and another without Tamblyn for the Japanese version -- these are mostly early scenes with the Maritime Safety Agency investigating the wreck of the ship, and scenes in the hospital where the MSA interviews the sole survivor.
