What was the first Godzilla collectible YOU purchased?

Postby Gooberzilla » Sat Aug 23, 2008 2:06 pm

Hi folks... What was your first purchase?

I remember back in the days of Club Daikaiju, I picked up the 1993 Bandai King Kong. King Kong vs. Godzilla was my favorite movie as a kid, so naturally I was drawn to the Kong figure! When it arrrived, I loved it and so began my Godzilla collecting mission!

Please tell us about your first G buy and post pictures if you can!

it was the Aurora glow in the dark model. pretty much the only Godzilla collectable to be had in Colorado in the 70s.

The Aurora model was my first back in the early 70's.

For me it was the 1998 Bandai Godzilla Island 6" Heisei Godzilla figure. That line was so cheap that I ended up buying the whole line and thats when the obsession started.

I had the Mattel Godzilla as well, but being the dumb kid that I was, I broke it and it was eventually discarded. Ditto with Rodan and Fangoria #1.

For my current collection, the 1994 Bandai Godzilla which I found in Things from Another World on Universal CityWalk. That was about 1997, I believe. Now I hardly have room for any more.

Trendmaster's 3" Godzilla (Heisei, I think). and I hated it, but I was unaware of anything else being available. :(

It was definitely a Trendmasters toy, but right now I can't recall if it was the 5" bendy bright green variant Godzilla, the 6" electronic Mecha Ghidorah, or the set of five Hatching Monsters. All of them were my earliest Godzilla toys, but the actual order in which I bought them eludes me.

It was the large size Imperial Godzilla figure, which I think I got sometime in 1986.

One of the smaller Trendmasters Godzillas, the regular dark green one about 5 inches tall was the first Godzilla I bought.

Prior to that I played with the mattel shogun Godzilla at my Grandma's house growing up, that was one of the toys everyone played with when at her house. I think that's what started me on the whole dino and Godzilla kick. I asked Grandma if I could have it a few years ago and he now lives with my Bandais and Trendmasters G's. :)
