This movie was everything I expected and more....I was in a packed theater with friends and folks who got into this movie and I have to tell you - such an atmosphere is freakin' awesome.

Ledger's Joker is a masterful work of art, one that I hope grants him the recognition he deserves. I was literaly floored with his performance of the Joker, since his first shot on-screen. My favorite part, besides the hospital scene, had to be his introduction to the mob bosses("the pencil trick" - the theater actually cheered for this one! :D). The plot itslef....sheer brilliance. IMO, this set the bar for all "smart" superhero movies to come.

One thing that bugged me, though - Bale's Batman voice. It felt forced and scratchy.....a minute detail in comparison to the movie.

10/10. :D

Holy Hell.

The Dark Knight is a work of art! Not just good moviemaking, freaking ART! It's unbelievable. People in the theater were applauding, laughing, gasping, reeling in horror, and most of all cheering. Unless you've spoiled yourself crazy reading reviews and spoilers and what not, this movie will go places and do things that you seriously won't expect.

Best superhero movie ever? Check. One of the best crime dramas ever? Double check.

And how this flick slipped by with just a PG-13 rating is beyond me. One of my friends who is 17 years old was still visibly disturbed by Ledger's Joker hours after the movie was over. It's so sweet. As impressed as I was by the snippets of Ledger's performance that we'd seen in the trailers, I thought it was silly that so many people were prematurely saying that he should be nominated for an Oscar so long before the movie came out (and only after he died no less, which indicates what really motivated such premature praise). Now after seeing the movie, there is absolutely no question in my mind that the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor belongs to Heath Ledger. It's such a shame that he's gone, because he deserves that award and he deserves so much praise for his performance here.

Was this really two and a half hours? It sure as hell didn't feel like it. It's so intensely gripping, it just pulls you in and sucks you through the story that by the time the end credits start to roll you'll practically need to catch your breath and settle your blood pressure. What an experience!

One thing Id like to add about this excellent film is restoring my belief in a filmmakers ability to make a good film and focus on plot and characters. And that TRULY is a dying art in our nerdy film genre. We have WAY too much of what i call "kevin Smith-itis" where you merely rely on winks at the camera and family guy like pop culture references in liew or actual GOOD writing. This film was actually deep, and there were no references-the film was too busy telling its story to wink at itself. Im also a huge doctor who fan and in my opinion thats whats ruined it-every decent idea has to have a witty one liner or fanboy reference. Another example is Supes Returns. I loved Supes(Bats as well) since I was 4 and that film should have been like this one, but how many references to the old film were there? And when you take that away what are you left with?......a kid.... Anywho this is how films (genre especially) SHOULD be. Take your subject matter seriously, dont substitute "Wizard reader" winks or CGI heavy landscapes for good plot. All of us are fans, but that doesn't mean talent and maybe some should stay that way and not bother with filmmaking!
