Look at the rating for the DVD. It's rated NC-17!!!! What the hell does that mean. Do Gamera and Jiger get it on in this film or something? Is this the director's cut of Gappa that shows just exactly how baby Gappa was conceieved?

Image Entertainment/Retromedia's product page lists it at NC-17, so I wager that's the entire reason why it's rated NC-17 there as well. Maybe Image/Retro mistakingly put some of their porno material in their Gamera/Gappa films?

I have a feeling the NC-17 rating has to do with Jiger's impregnating Gamera and such. Not that I've seen the film, but I've heard about what happens in it. But even so, why NC-17 for it? The most that should get is an R rating (or up here in Canada, 14A or 18A).
That rating definitely couldn't be for Gappa, as the movie really shows nothing that violent (but it's been a while since I last saw it, so I could be missing something).
This is just messed up, all around. Even the most violent kaiju movie should only get about a PG-13 rating (probably PG-13 or 14A in the Great White North) normally...

it just occured to me that the NC-17 rating could be due to some previews for other Image Entertainment products. Maybe they included some trailers to some explicit videos they have or something. But why in the hell would they put something like that on a DVD like this?! especially when they know it could potentially appeal to children!!!!
