This is a shocker! I haven't seen anything in the mainstream press about Stan's passing.

I've visited Winston Studios a few times and met Stan. He was a nice guy; very enthusiastic about his work and movies in general.

Here's a photo of Stan meeting Toho's Akinori Takagi, Yasuki Inoue, and Masaaki Tezuka in 2004:

I saw Stan at the Ray Harryhausen Hollywood Walk-of-fame ceremony exactly 5 years ago.

I heard about it through the grapevine earlier today but didn't want to say anything until there was something solid. It was a cancer called multiple myeloma.

How awful. :(
I hope he didn't suffer to much. Cancer is an awful way to go. At least he's at peace now. He was a genius when it came to SPX. You have to put him in the same group with Tsuburaya, Harryhausen and of course O'Bie himself.
This one came right out of left field. I didn't even know he was sick.

Farewell Stan. :cry:
