A few years ago there was talks of a Special Edition of Planet of Dinosaurs did that ever come out or are they planning to do one? I see they released a 30th Anniversary DVD from Retromedia, that's Widescreen whereas the first was Pan and Scan and Goodtimes released that.

But after looking at it on Amazon and DeepDiscount it appears it's just another bearbones release like the first one. However this print is 3 minutes longer than the other one.

So yeah any info on a Special Edition would be great. I'm looking to upgrade mine which has a P&S version of the film and is very crappy quailty some scences for instance you can barely make out the actors.

The movie was shot open-matte (like almost all films featuring stop-motion animation), so it's nice to have both the old Goodtimes release and the newer (if subpar) Retromedia disc... which is 1.77:1/1.85:1.

I LOVED this movie as a kid... it's so terrible, but fun to watch. I think I'll have to pick up that $5 copy on amazon.

I just ordered the Goodtimes release($5 version) along with Unknown Island from amazon for a total of about $18 including shipping, good deal imo. I shall have a great Old Dinosaur Movie Mayhem Marathon this weekend!!!!
