Whether you agreed with his politics or not, you can't deny this guy was a legend.

Blow it out, TheMaster. Think I'm the first person to try to mix humour - "low-class" though it may be - into somebody's passing away? Get a life. Attend the wake and a funeral of someone from a working-class Wisconsin family and let me know about "low-class" human beings who can still find laughter in the face of loss, you ignorant jackass.

I'm fully aware of Mr. Heston's acting career and political activism. You want to see a group of people who hold Charlton in high regard? Come look at the collections of guns my family's got buddy, including some wonderful albeit now-illegal fully automatic pistols my grandfather used to collect and let me know about who might have some respect for the activism of an individual like Heston.

Talk to my grandmother who insisted that me and my brothers see Ben-Hur and The Ten Commandments when we were young. Talk to my Navy veteran grandfather with whom I've watched Midway at least a dozen times in my life. Talk to some of my buddies, with whom Earthquake, Soylent Green, Omega Man etc. are must-sees on movie marathons. Think I never saw Planet of the Apes when I was a kid? Get off.

Could it have occured to you that the comment I made was a jest with reference to Heston's firm support of gun rights, something I hold with a considerable amount of respect, considering my family and where I come from? Get the chip off your shoulder before you start lecturing other people about "class." You'll feel a lot better at the end of the day and the rest of us will have at least one less unnecessary diatribe to read.

^Watch what you say on a post regarding someones passing and maybe you won't have to go all out explaining yourself dork. It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to predict a reaction to your post, unless you're dense about human behavior, and what could be perceived as inciting something. A one sentence degrading"humorous" response to someones passing won't get you much sympathy, try it at a funeral and see the reaction, regardless of your lineage and family experiences. Class refers to behavior-and maybe restraint- and both your posts reveal yours.

Blanket warning to anyone in this thread who has called or intends to call anyone else names: please stop. No reason for this kind of behavior, especially in a RIP thread. This is the second reminder in the past week of why the late great Aaron Smith established the "no politics" rule here. No further flames, no futher politics, no further warnings. Be civil, or take a 30 day break. Sheesh.

I'll miss him. Great actor and a man who stood up for what he
believed in. I admire him very much and was blessed to have met
and shook his hand once.
