Bumping this to the top with the latest news, for those that haven't heard:

Doctor Who Series 4 starts Saturday April 5th! Wow, can't believe we've already come round again. This will be the last "full" series for awhile, as next year they'll pull back a bit and only release 3 specials, like the Christmas specials (60-70 minute one offs, instead of a Series 5). The whole crew is going to take a bit of a breather, and Tennant will be doing work with the Royal Shakespeare Company this year.

Summary of Series 4 stories (spoiler light):
- 4.01: "Partners in Crime" - Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) returns and joins the Doctor.
- 4.02: "The Fires of Pompeii" - Filmed at Cinecitta studios in Rome, the story takes place in Pompeii in AD 79, the day before the - eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
- 4.03: "Planet of the Ood" - Explores the origins and homeworld of the subservient race first seen in in Series 2's "The Impossible Planet".
- 4.04/4.05: "The Sontaran Stratagem"/unknown - The return of the Sontarans, as well as UNIT and Martha.
- 4.06: unknown - Set on an alien world, a race called the Haff, and possibly something/someone very close to the Doctor from his past is revealed.
- 4.07: "The Unicorn & the Wasp" - A whodunnit where the Doctor and Donna meet Agatha Christie.
- 4.08/4.09: "Silence in the Library"/unknown - Writer Steven Moffat returns with a 2 parter where the Doctor and Donna find themselves in the 51st Century in a giant planetwide library that’s been abandoned for 100 years. Events here will set up the rest of the season.
- 4.10: "Midnight" - The Doctor and Donna arrive on an alien leisure planet
- 4.11: unknown - the annual Doctor-lite story. Very lite, in fact. An old friend reappears.
- 4.12/4.13: unknown - Bigs Series finale. Really, really big; so big it's bigger than you can think of big. I mean HUGE, unimaginably vast its... friends and enemies you never thought you'd see again.

Click here for that started running on BBC over the weekend, also on YouTube courtesy of me! (:30)

Should be an absolutely bonkers season. I also have to say that Torchwood, finishing next week, has been exceptionally better than series one. And I hear that it's in for some big changes as well, and some new (but familiar to DW fans) permanent cast members next year.

Rose and Martha [and retro-actively Sara Jane Smith] falling in love with the Doctor always seemed horribly forced to me. (and on the flip side, include the Doctor apparently falling in love with Rose)

I know this new series would be better off without that silly bit of plot.

A year or so ago [before the 3rd series aired probably] I saw this great piece of fan art that matched my sentiments on the issue. The artist doesn't think much of the whole assistant falling for the Doctor angle either.

It's a rather wide image, so you're better off taking a look over at her Deviant Art page for it.

^ Bingo. Sorry to relentlessly bash RTD-I of course love having the series on the air. But as the seasons progress, good ratings or not-I think hes seriously damaging doctor who. Initially the Rose love angle was kind of relevant. After the time war her spunk and character brought the Doc out of his shell and there was a nice chemistry. But kinda like his obsession for yearly Dalek appearances and gay references, Russel doesn't seem to know when to let it go. He reminds me of a pubescent teenager alot. If EVERY female falls in love with the doc you kinda water down the good parts of Roses relationship. And keep in mind its not just companions-there was Human Nature and the Chick in the Fireplace or whatever.
To be an old fogie old Doctor Who rarely had sexual tension- I think Pertwees sadness at Jo Grant was the closest we saw. More of the focus was on the science fiction and less trying constantly to be cute in every way. Who knows what the future may hold but RTDs tenure might end up being remembered akin to the silliness of Bakers final years(minus JNTs one season). I long for Robert Holmes kinda stories personally.

I saw bits of Partners in Crime on BBC's Breakfast programme this morning, and I have to say, the Adipose could well be the most bizarre critters of the whole of the new series.

As reported by , the Radio Times has filled in a few more blanks concerning Series Four's episodes (titles in bold are newly announced):

4.01: Partners in Crime
4.02: The Fires of Pompeii
4.03: Planet of the Ood
4.04: The Sontaran Stratagem
4.05: The Poison Sky
4.06: The Doctor's Daughter
4.07: The Unicorn and the Wasp
4.08: Silence in the Library
4.09: River's Run
4.10: Midnight
4.11: Turn Left
4.12: TBA
4.13: Journey's End

So'd ya see Partners in Crime?
Sort of reminded me of a Tezuka directed Godzilla. Serviceable but nothing really extraordinary. The last few minutes had a real eye popping and spoilerific moment. The miming thing was funny. The thing with the Grandpa with his telescope at the end was very sweet. The rest was really very typical RTD plotting through and through.
