Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla should have been the last G movie like Toho originally intended. Spacegodzilla felt like it was quickly thrown together after Tri-stars Godzilla film got delayed. At this point I believe Kawakita was no longer interested in doing the FX for the series but did so anyway. They certainly looked uninspired and were edited badly. I always felt the editing totally ruined the later Heisei films.
