Yeah, Abrams said something about a fall trailer before comic-con, though. People then began to make assumptions as to where they'd see the trailer.

Now, what if, and this is just pure speculation based on news bit 2, we're looking at this the wrong way and have been looking in the wrong direction? What if trailer 2 shows up on TV rather than in theaters?

Now, I found news bit 1 a bit funny and I was a bit reluctant to post it, but before I hit delete, I went back and looked over a few articles abou 1-18-08 from various entertainment news sites and read that Abrams and co. were surprised at the amount of buzz the trailer caused in theaters AND the "ethanhaas was right" website and would soon begin to trickle viral marketing down the pipe...because they hadn't thought of that until AFTER the buzz had started.

And yes, stuff was leaked, including the casting call, or whatever with the ending typed in. It even had the set locations and everything, including the names of the main characters....and it was recovered by variety magazine. That's the biggest leak they've had since.

Yeah, and that's what I meant - the Cloverfield guys didn't know that site existed until the buzz started and then put together slusho.co.jp......

Their surprise, reportedly, also came about because of how people found that site, and without ANY evidence, automatically linked it to Cloverfield.

This thread suddenly got very entertaining.

Why would anybody want to see a new American Godzilla movie though? Honestly, doesn't the main movie-going audience still have a bad taste in their mouths from GINO? Also, if we're throwing out everything the director/producers have said as false, then why can't this movie be just as much about Cthulhu or Voltron? If anything the Cthulhu rumor has had a lot more going for it in all of the supposed "leaks" we've been subjected to.

Before jumping to any conclusions at this point you should really just wait for the inevitable official preview for the film. But as others have said, there's almost NO way this is a Godzilla film. If you really think you have so much evidence that it is, please share with us.
