Soooo it's been a while and I still haven't posted my impressions of Madman's Godzilla vs Mothra dvd yet. And the reason for that is, I ordered the wrong one. :x  For some reason it never even registered with me while I was ordering it that the coverart featured pictures of the Showa Mothra and Godzilla, not Heisei. Obviously it's just called "Godzilla vs Mothra" in Australia and not "Mothra vs Godzilla", since that must have been all I was paying attention to when I made the order (incidentally that was the second dvd order I screwed up over Christmas; I'm starting to wonder if I was even awake while I was making some of these orders :P ).

Needless to say it's a tad annoying, but oh well. At least now I've got a version of MvsG to tide me over until I get the Classic Media release.

I'm going to re-order the correct dvd next week along with Godzilla vs Space Godzilla (the release date for which was recently pushed back slightly to January 29th), so I'll post my impressions of them both when they arrive. That's if I get the order right this time of course. :P

Who's up for seconds? Another R4 Goji sale is on the way, this time from EzyDVD.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/mech/quicksear ... q=godzilla

Every Godzilla title (sans the GINO movie and cartoon) will be lowered in price to $14.92 AUD ($12.07 USD) on September 10th.

There's a couple catches to keep in mind, though. Firstly, Australian time is 13-15 hours ahead of US Eastern time (depending on which part of Australia you're talking about), so September 10th would begin at midnight there when it's still 9:00am on September 9th in the US Eastern time zone. I'm not sure how that would bode for waiting until then to place an order for this sale, but apparently they've got their site set up so you can pre-order the DVDs now and they won't ship them until September 10th, with the reduced price. The other catch is that I don't know how long this sale will last. It could be a day, it could be a week, it could just be for whoever pre-orders them. The best bet would be to play it safe and just go ahead and do the pre-order thing before then if you're planning on buying anything.

I'll be grabbing Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, Godzilla vs. Mothra, and Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla, as good alternatives to Sony's lackluster R1s. For anybody who hasn't bought any of these R4s yet, I recommend all of the Heisei releases, but most definitely Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla vs. Megalon, as well as Godzilla: Tokyo SOS. These are the best subtitled releases of those films you're gonna find.

Ok, does Godzilla 2000 have english subs? I don't think it does, but I just want to get confirmation.

I'll be getting Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla 2000(if it has english subs). I would get some of the Heisei releases, but I'm perfectly fine with my R3 ones.

well, it might have optional subs, but according to Ben Haines on page 11 of this thread, it's only the U.S. edit.....

According to Sparvid, who actually owns the G2000 R4 (I don't), it's just the US version. Stick to the Sony R1 for that version.

Yeah, no point in getting that.

Thanks for the info and help... I'll be getting the Destroy All Monsters, for the japanese version with english subs.

there's screenshots comparing the two a few pages back in this thread.... people should really skim through it before asking questions b/c most of this has been discussed in detail in this very thread.

& just to answer your question, yes, the R1 is very blue looking. The R4 is a port of the japanese R2 & does not have the blue tint. personally, i went with the R4.

edit check out pg 13 for screenshots of R1 & R4 GvsMG '93.

If I didn't already own all the R4's I wanted I'd be all over that sale like kaiju on Japan. :P

I had made a topic with a whole boatload of screencap comparisons of the R1, R2, and R4 GvsMG2 discs, but it apparently got deleted, which kind of pisses me off.

But yes, do get the R4. The picture is identical to the R2 (with some very mild artifacting, as all of Madman's discs have, which isn't even noticable on a TV), free of the blue/purple hue that embellishes the R1 image. Another significant plus in its favor is that the subtitles are completely accurate, unlike Sony's dubtitles.

I may go for this sale. So from the looks of it, you can order before the sale and when it begins they send it to you?... Or what?

Also, I see Final Wars costs a bit more, but I have a question concerning the extras, to anyone who owns the DVD. Are the extras subtitled? I'm hoping so, especially considering Madman's excellent subbing jobs on the other Godzilla trailers.
