I think you'll get more bang-for-your-buck from Frankenstein; Varan is definitely second tier Toho SF.

But I unhesitatingly recommend Varan as well. You should pick it up as well when your finances permit.

I'd say get FCTW because its the best of the two movies and one of Honda's most underrated movies, and the best deal for the money you pay.

Or you could just go all out and get both.

I would go with FCtW because it has a lot of features. Varan is a good release and all but Frankenstein has more to offer.

I'd say your best bet would be FCTW or Space Amoeba for now, but try to get them all as they all have something to offer.

Or better yet, you can try renting them or Netflixing them. That way you can watch them first and decide if you actually want to buy them.
