Look. I've asked you guys politely to stop putting words in mouth. And to just keep me out of your wild theories and speculations.
What more do I have to say? I said please didn't I?

I can't even get into setting you straight. Because for one, you'll just whine over it anyway. And mechascorpio will send me another love note saying that I'm being too tough.
Apparently you guys need his protection from me. Because I'm not an obsessed fan. And I represent the general public. Which is something that apparently bumps against the grain here.

So for the last time. Please leave me out of it.

^ I can't reply to your constant baiting because you're under protection.
But keep it up. You're only helping to prove my case.

A lot of people seem to be saying that they would never give up on Godzilla fandom just because no new movies may be produced, but I don't think that was what Andrew meant by "jumping ship". I think he was asking if fans around here thought that the Godzilla series should just be left alone as it is for legacy's sake and no new movies should be produced.

For the time being, I do think this is the way things should be. Like I've said before, Godzilla needs a LONG break. Another fifteen or twenty years, at least. The unfortunate reality is that movies today aren't made for artistic purposes anymore. They're done almost solely to make money, and that means the general public needs to be biting in order for that to happen. And right now, in both Japan and the United States, Godzilla just flat-out will not draw moviegoers. You know it's sad but true.

I think that Godzilla could potentially be a big box office draw again one day, but in order for that to happen, giving the character and the franchise a long break is an absolute neccessity. Around the year 2025 or so, I think the public could be receptive to a return engagement for the King of the Monsters. By that time, it would all be up to the talent at work to make something of enough quality to live up to its potential. It sure would suck for the public to finally be willing to give Godzilla one more chance about twenty years from now and for us to end up with another GINO fiasco or something in the same vein of crap. That would very likely bury the franchise forever.

2025?!

Yeesh! That's means I will have to wait until I am 71 for Godzilla to come back (and OtiGoji will be scant years from 80).
