Nothing like coming home on a Monday to new Godzilla toys. Especially when the toys are as cool as these are.

First up is the Marmit Wonderfest giant black Mechagodzilla. Jet black vinyl figures are always awesome, and they're even better when they're 14" tall. I may have liked it a little more without the silver highlights but it's still a really nice looking toy. Marmit hasn't announced any new figures lately, but I hope they keep the giant figure line going.

And here's the figure next to last years giant Mechagodzilla. As nice as the black MG is, I still like the original better.

Boy I really don't know what the guys at Marusan are smoking. A lot of their stuff is just plain bad, at least in my opinion, such as that creepy-looking Varan they released earlier this year. But then they can turn around and put out fantastic stuff like their Yog kaiju. So that brings us to their latest release - the Mysterians version of the giant robot Mogera. Now Marusan already put out a Mogera in 2005. That figure was a somewhat crude representation of the maquette model that ended up in posters and publicity shots for the Mysterians. This new figure is based on the actual suit, and it's a really nice representation. Now most people will probably favor Bandai's Mogera figure over this one, and that's perfectly understandable. In my opinion, the two figures are very similar, and honestly I think the Marusan figure gets the proportions better than the Bandai figure does, and I like the sculpted eyes that the Bandai figure doesn't have. I guess it's all a matter of personal taste.

And here's a group shot of vinyl Mogeras. From l to r: Bandai, Marmit Vinyl Paradise, Marmit Para Baby and Marusan

Last and certianly not least is the orange and teal version of Marmit's fantastic Burning Godzilla figure that was released at the Tokyo Superfest last month. There's not really much more that has to be said here. It's just an amazing figure, and while the plain orange version was incredibly cool, the extra blue coloring makes the other figure that much better. I can't imagine how Marmit plans to follow this up.

Haven't seen anyone posting pics of the Mini Resin Gamera figs but here is one of Zedus. All the others are in boxes but this Zedus looked good so I released him. Here are pics of the Megahouse G-Artworks set 2 and the Ultraman EX Imagination series. This one is of the 2 Godzilla clones, Jiras & Gomess going at it. And for those

I love the scuplt and the color and everything about it. now i just cant wait to get it in my hands. it kinda beats the Banda Theater Exclusive in one area..it is double casted orange and yellow with glitter...well i should have it in about a week.

Thanks Legion for showing me the light...their is more to this hobby than bandai.

Jean's Non-Godzilla Top 20: http://www.vinylmaddness.com/Top20Tohofigures01.html

Jean's Godzilla Top 20: http://www.vinylmaddness.com/Top20Bandai.html

The '91 is number four on his Bandai Godzilla's. Classic indeed, though if Marmit did a really good '89/'91 (though the Closed Mouth is technically from 1989) I would really want to see a proportionate tail. The Heisei Godzilla's had such big tails, which is part of the allure for me.

Like all Marmit figures, the tail is shortened a bit, which is something they've obviously adopted as a style thing, and Godzilla's tail is hardly the most important part of a vinyl toy. It's a good looking figure that I think I'll like if I get to see one in person, I think it'd be near perfect to me if the tail was a fuller size like it appeared in the movie, but I really don't want to criticize a specific appendage on a vinyl toy as casting a negative light on the entire figure itself and being that Marmit doesn't really do full sized tails it doesn't bother me on this, and then of course nothing is ever perfect.

Now, theoretically if Marmit did another '89 Goji with as excellent a body sculpt as with this Burning Godzilla, I'd say I'd want a bigger tail than their usual style just because the '89 is my favorite Godzilla suit and I'm a G vs. Biollante fanboy. No realy reason other than that :)
