Just in case no one's noticed it, we're talking about Marmit's new Meltdown Godzilla over in the new purchases thread. A show exclusive version was just released at the Super Festival. It's definitely one of Marmit's sweetest figures:

One of those G54 dioramas just hit YJ, so I have 3 pics and some info.

The whole thing weighs about 16 kg (55 lbs!!!!!)
About 40 cm high
80 cm deep
and 50 cm wide
And the back can partially light up and look stupid.
AND they're apparently limited to 100 pieces. That may not be new ifo to y'all, but it is to me.

When I look at it though, the idea of space or the absurd cost of the product and shipping really don't come up as issues. The biggest thing for me is that it just kinda looks crappy. Looks like a waste of money to me.

"And the back can partially light up and look stupid." I thought that was pretty funny, Hesei.

I'm not liking the idea of the design in this one, let alone the pics of the actual product.

It should be on a city street with maybe some buildings like when Godzilla went up against (and destroyed) the tank division in the film.

The muddy/rocky ground in this statue would make sense if they were looking at the scene after he busts up the electric towers, but there weren't any tanks there if I remember. I thought it was only artillery at that point and even then there were trees and grass.

I do like the Godzilla, though.

Ah well, not going to worry too much about this one. Not going to happen for me and that's just fine. Other things to spend my money on right now that I know I like (and actually have room for.)

The real question you should be asking me is whether I give a flying f---. because the answer to that would be a most definite "no." I already said I could care less about it at all because there's no way I could possibly afford something like this, but if you really feel a need to interrogate about the other reasons I provided, feel free.

Yeah, it's not from the movie - it's from a publicity shot (or poster, as you so gracefully put it), I did indeed read the article from Scifi Japan that was posted here a while back. I forgot about it. Oops.

The next time I have anything critical to say about a toy/model/diorama, I'll be sure to email you first for permission. Wouldn't want to make a mistake when talking about Godzilla toys, now would we?

Here's some stuff that'll be available at the Tokyo Superfest this July:

First, a different angle on the black/purple Gigabrain Gigan.

And from Marmit (surprise, surprise) more Godzilla vs Hedora figures. First up is a new figure, a swimming version of Hedora:

Another varient of the standard Hedora, made of clear, color-injected, glittery vinyl:

And finally, here's Godzilla. Marmit seems to finally have remembered to include the damaged eye, and they've used the clear base vinyl to depict the skeleton hand. Pretty sweet. Oddly, either the photo has been reversed or someone at Marmit messed up. The damaged eye and hand should be on the opposite sides of the figure.
EDIT: the photo is fine. I just compared it to my regular '71 Godzilla and, yeah, someone at Marmit messed up.
