I am glad MB is sticking with the R2 cover art, They did the same for Atragon and Space Amoeba and they look great. It took me a few minutes to get used to both the International and American titles being on the cover but, unlike their other Toho features, this is a 2 disc set with both versions included so I suppose it is necessary.

As for the cover, I like the top font -- it invokes the original lettering of the AIP advertising (the photo is exactly the cover of the re-issued Toho Video R2 release). But, like some other advance covers from Media Blasters, I am sure it will be tweaked before it hits store shelves in June. At least, even in this form, it's far better than the Sony DVD jackets! :P

If the previous Media Blasters Toho releases are any indication, this should include the Octopus scene, which is one of the extras on the R2 release -- MB just ports them over. :D

Here's hoping we get some extras related to the U.S. version (theatrical trailer, posters, etc)... but I highly doubt that's going to happen.

The original R2 "cover" (actually the jewel case booklet cover) for you to compare and contrast:

It's the "exploding" text and all of the lines... THAT is what bothers me.

Thanks for posting that (once again), Jim. The Toho Video re-issue of FVSB uses the same photograph, but is now a tall case.

Benjamin Haines said: "Um, agreed. I can't think of anything wrong with the option to watch a film with two endings rather than having to select the alternate ending through a special features menu."

Whatever works, since the "Devilfish" ending was never part of any theatrical version ever released. It will just be nice to see this film on the market, since the TV version of FCTW that UPA issued in the '80s was cut (the previous version was the uncut US version from American International).

Quick question. When Paramount Home Video put out the 5 UPA owned G films (Godzilla, MvG, Monster Zero, G Revenge, Terror of MG) and also put out Rodan and WOTG on VHS, I wondered why wasn't FCTW put out as well. Or was it? I don't want to start a long tangent here, but just curious. Thanks to anyone and all.

Paramount didn't put it out with the other videos, and as for why, I have no idea.
