^del Toro has always been into the stuff Hellboy was inspired by. When he was directing Mimic he happened upon a comic shop, discovered Hellboy comics, and soon after struck up a friendship with Mike Mignola and they began to plan the HB movie from there.

I Ron Pearlman in Pan? Recently I heard Guillermo say that he has pledged to put Ron in every single movie he makes from now on, though since it was a recent comment I suppose it was made after Pan was completed.

I'd like to reiterate that I hope I get this movie in at theater around here. There's a new theater that is showing some more of the stuff thats slightly more limited in release. It's the only one in my city showing Borat.

metal_bryan, they are Fascists from the time of the Spanish Civil War. This is in the same relative time period and place as seen in The Devil's Backbone (another incredible Del Toro movie).

lhb412, AFAIK Ron isn't in Pan, but Doug Jones who played Abe Sapien in the Hellboy movie plays a couple of the fantasy characters.

^Yeah, I know about Doug being in the film. I just thought that it would be possible for Ron to be in it. He was great at acting in another language he didn't know in City of Lost Children.

I can definetely undestand why is getting all this praise now that I've seen it. A film great on many levels, great performances, and I can't think of a single bad thing to say about it. The monsters were very creepy (especially the Pale Man), but the Captain was truely frightening in some parts.

Best film I've seen in the theater since.... hmmmm, Batman Begins probably.

Did the Captain's carrying that watch remind anyone else of For a Few Dollars More? Obviously just a coincidence but it reminded me of it.
