Kairo (the original) is really good. Very quirky and dark to the point of bleak.

is awesomely creepy and Lovecraftian.

Kadokawa released R1s of their horror series "tales of mystery and horror" and there's also R1s of Genius Entertainment's "J Horror Anthologies" and "Dark Tales of Japan".

Also a good horror tv miniseries is MAIL with Japanese horror femme fatale Chiaki Kuriyama.

Tales of Terror from Tokyo is an anthology of 5 minute shorts based on local ghost stories from around Japan (sent in by the public) that are adapted for TV.

probably all are R1 and can be found on amazon or at best buy, etc.

I actually don't think A Tale of two Sisters is Japanese. I think it's from Hong Kong.
