Umm...If you thought "Ultraman" was goofy, then you really won't want to watch any Ultraman series, because the movie was aimed at an international audience(
wonder why it was never widely released...?), thus, not meant to be goofy AT ALL.
I really hope the rumor's true, because like I've said before, TOHO and SONY can do business....I mean REAL business by mixing both worlds in one here. If they can get on the same page, this could be THE Godzilla movie for everyone.
BTW, I don't tink they'll bring anyone back that they're not supposed to, and I also think it's a few years too late to dish out the Godzilla 2 script(
that evolved into "Godzilla X Megaguirus: The G-Extermination Initiative") and film that, though parts of it would help(
the characterization elements of the main characters ,Godzilla himself ,and the new "Minilla"). So basically, revamp the original design to make him stand upright and look more like a hybrid of his japanese and american incarnations, than just an iguana with spikes running down his back. Heck, take it a step further - get STAN WINSTON.
Scan EVERY SINGLE maquette he ever made for the original G'98 and enhance and animate those suckers in CG.
Matthew Broderick hasn't done anything hugely noteworthy - neither have the rest of the stars there(
'cept Jean Reno - he's an international star, so he gets international A-List roles....He's the man, afterall!

) I doubt they'd say no. Now, bring in Asian talent and you probably have something worth watching.
Who knows - maybe folks will take notice with the international cast?
One last thing - the advertising campaign better not be overkill - those massive posters kinda sucked. How about posters that actually give you reason to fear him, like "The king of the sea is watching you" with the big eyes staring at at a cruise ship from below the ocean.
