If you want to be logical, the best G-Film to start with would be the first. Both American and Japanese Versions are fine.

If you are trying to introduce young children into the Godzilla films, Son of Godzilla would be a perfect selection. Its actually a good family film and has a Disney-esque charm to it.

I would also say that the best movie to start out of would be one from the Showa series, particularly one from the 60s.

Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla vs. Mothra (64), Ghidrah the Three Headed Monster, and Godzilla vs. Monster Zero are all fine selections to start off with.

The first Godzilla movie I've seen was Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla [1974] so I recommend that for a beginner. Also classics like Gojira, Ghidorah, the Three Headed Monster, Godzilla vs the Sea Monster and Invasion of Astro Monster are a good start to liking the series.

If you have to introduce someone to a Godzilla movie, therefore implying that they haven't seen a Godzilla movie of their own choice without you making them, than is that really someone you want to be around?
