To all you guys with these massive collections...

(and no, I'm NOT being an "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!")

do you have girlfriends or wives? I ask because I have something of a meager collection (20 or so vinyls among some hyper figures and stuff, plus two wall scrolls) in my room. My girlfriend doesn't really comment on it or anything (I assume she tries to ignore it, lol) and I'm wondering what the reactions of any of your ladies is to your far more substantial collections.

Honestly I woudnt even consider even thinking of dating someone unless at the very least they tolerated my collection. Collecting Godzilla toys is almost an absolute way of life for me. I take it very seriously and I'm always picking new items.

Luckily most girls I have dating have been fine with it.

I'll agree with Legion here as well. If youre gonna be dating someone, be honest about yourself. If you have a collection of toys, let it be known, and don't put up with her crap. Or anyone's crap. They dont have to like it, but they should at least tolerate it at the very least. Its a part of your personality, and if your SO tried to rub it out of your life, the'll be rubbing something out of you. Rather than accepting you for who you are.

I should know about space and collections. I have a modest Godzilla collection, but I collect...SENTAI ROBOTS/MEGAZORDS O__@. Do you know how much psace that takes up over time? Especially since they much larger than your average Godzilla vinyl figure.

In the past, they have tried to find nondescript words, like "interesting" and "unique" to describe it.
One thought it was cute.

My girlfriend doesn't really mind, neither does my mom. However, my significant other often shakes her head and disagrees with my spending vast amounts of money on Godzilla stuff.

I always thought it would be an issue, but my past few girlfriends have all been pretty ok with it...even wanting to go with me to G-Fest (which hasn't worked out due to scheduling conflicts) But I agree with what Shin_Edda_Robo said "Be honest about yourself" people will surprise you.

I've always been asked what it is about Godzilla and my response was "it was my first memory as a child". I was too young to know what it was but I knew it was unusual. The images of the original Godzilla marching through Tokyo had me in a trance and I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. I believe I was a little over a year old but the impact of that film and the original "Frankenstein" were unforgettable.
