Honestly, I think I've clocked well over 3,000 hours of Tom and Jerry as a kid. I'll still stop and watch whenever f-in'
Pee Wee's Playhouse gets off the air on Cartoon Network and some real shows manage to come on.
Didn't some European company just recently sue to try to edit out all of the smoking from the original episodes?
Anyway, even though I'm young and still well away from a complete Bandai collection, I really like some of the older Marusans/Bullmarks (any love for Popy, Mike?). They just kind of look cool. I didn't like them at first, but over the years I've just started to appreciate them as part of Godzilla history as well as just being pretty neat toys. I guess I like the caricature-ish designs mostly because they're so old and obviously much more special to the collector than some newer toys.
Most kids, even those as old as me, will be happy to get their hands on the newest 6" toys, simply because even the older Bandai's are out of their scope. I was working 35+ hours a week plus mowing about 20 lawns a month for the past year and a half (I've been mowing 20+ lawns a month when I was as young as twelve), so I've always been making some decent cash to buy the Bandai's that I wanted (when I found them in the condition I liked) for somebody my age.
But I have let some toys slip past the years and waited to get them, which has cost me quite a bit. My biggest regrets are not getting the more frail TE's when they were new and getting the older Bandai's last year in conditions that I'm no longer at all happy with (kids, don't ever rush into buying toys unless you're sure about what condition you want them in!). Had about $300 (still quite a bit for me) in early 90's toys from last summer without any tags and in crappy shape. Not cool.
I really want to start my own vintage collection someday after I'm done building my Bandai horde; maybe I'll trade off some of those multiples I have to help pay them off when I do.
I'd definatley look to get that Biollante Rose if they ever re-issue it with a better paint/vinyl coloration. I really want a Biollante Rose Form (I think I mentioned this at G-Fest when we all made our rounds during the Collector's Forum) but that's just too...awkward with the flesh color. I think the Bandai figure from '92 will do me just fine as a Biollante Final Form, though.
